Patient Care

People are living longer, better lives thanks to advances in medical imaging, new tests, medicines and treatments. In the early days of HIV/AIDS, for example, patients with the disease rarely survived more than a couple of years. Today, thanks to advances in antiretroviral therapies, many patients live long, essentially healthy lives.

Innovative medicines help millions of patients live better with or recover from a host of diseases and conditions. Through the research and development process, biopharmaceutical discoveries bring new hope for patients with leukemia, breast cancer, heart disease and many other serious conditions.

Statistics like survival rates can help illustrate the value of a drug and its benefit to society. But most touching are the stories of patients who have benefited from scientific advances.
